The Working Hours Act (Arbeidstijdenwet, ATW) limits how many hours employees work and how much rest they get between shifts. bookU Staffing checks your planning against the Working Hours Act limits configured for your brand and reports every violation. Planners review each violation and decide how to handle it.
How the Working Hours Act check works in bookU Staffing
bookU Staffing runs the Working Hours Act check automatically as soon as a shift has the status Assigned. While a shift does not yet have the status Assigned, bookU Staffing does not run the check. The check runs in the background and does not block your planning.
bookU Staffing runs the check again when you cancel an assignment or change the times of a shift. A violation that no longer applies after your change disappears automatically.
Rules covered by the Working Hours Act check in bookU Staffing
The Working Hours Act check in bookU Staffing covers three rules: maximum planned hours per day, maximum planned hours per week, and minimum rest time between two shifts.
Maximum planned hours per day: a violation appears when you plan an employee for more hours on one day than the limit allows.
Maximum planned hours per week: a violation appears when you plan an employee for more hours in one week than the limit allows. A week runs from Monday to Sunday.
Minimum rest time between two shifts: a violation appears when the rest between two shifts of the same employee is shorter than the minimum.
The hour limits and the minimum rest time are configured per brand. A brand is the holding in bookU Staffing under which your companies are grouped. The limits can therefore differ between brands.
Where bookU Staffing reports Working Hours Act violations
bookU Staffing reports Working Hours Act violations in three places: the All violations module, the Violations tab of a shift, and a warning icon on shift cards in Employees planning. These three places only appear when the Working Hours Act check is switched on for your brand.
Limits of the Working Hours Act check in bookU Staffing
The Working Hours Act check in bookU Staffing only checks the rules configured for your brand, so exceptions to a rule may apply. The limits that apply to an employee can differ per situation.
Each violation message in bookU Staffing therefore ends with a reminder that exceptions may apply. A violation message tells you that a configured limit is exceeded. A violation message does not tell you that the planning is unlawful.
